Improved standard: Homes with additional facilities, in attractive areas and/or especially improved homes which hold modern conveniences such as washing machine, (open) fireplace, bedrooms, each with two beds, shower/toilet, often sauna, etc. Price (depending on location) from DKK. 4500 per week/peak season.
Superior standard: New homes, often 130-200 square metres, with swimming pool, spa bath, communication satellite as extra facilities. Often sleep 10-12 people/4-5 bedrooms. Price depending on season from approx. DKK 11.500 per week.
Additional charges: Remember to allow for the additional charges when budgeting for your holiday. In addition to the cost of renting the accommodation you will have to pay for electricity, heating, telephone (if provided) and firewood. A handy tip is to note down how many kilowatts you use in 24 hours and then multiply that by the number of days you are renting the accommodation for. This will give you an idea of how much you will have to pay when you leave. As a rule, the holiday homes are electrically heated so costs can easily mount up in the cold months.
Many of the holiday homes provide a form for you to record the kilowatt value when you arrive and when you leave. The letting agent will then send the bill to you or you can pay when you return the keys to the house.
Cleaning: The holiday home must be cleaned thoroughly before departure. With some letting agents you are able to purchase final cleaning. With others you can opt to save the money by doing your own cleaning - if you do so you will need to remember to bring cleaning products - or buy them locally.
